Our first glamping experience – Redwood Valley, Wales
We have never been glamping before and it was one thing on my bucket list for this year to go UK glamping with our kids. I just needed to find the right time for it and a few weeks ago was the perfect time! It was a new experience for us as a family to sleep in a yurt and we created such good memories.
I’ve got to say that this place set the bars really high. Redwood Valley, in Presteigne, was beautiful and clean; quiet; it had everything we needed and we spent an awesome time there.
The outdoor shared kitchen looked amazing. I loved all the attention to detail and that everything was made of wooden by the owners. The yurt was also beautiful, clean, and amazing interior design. The place had everything we needed – from dishes, to cutlery, salt & paper and other seasonings, and the owner, David, even lended us some of his sleeping bags when we told him we forgot ours and we were a little cold on our first night. I thought that was really nice and kind of him!
Everything we needed to bring with us can also be found on their website, but it included food, water, charcoal, extra blankets/sleeping bags, and … marshmallows :P! Every yurt had a reserved place in the cupboards for the food you bring from home, and enough space in the fridge too.
We were there for 2 days and at first, me and my husband thought we’re going to die of boredom there. We have never been glamping and weren’t quite used to so much quiet, but actually, we didn’t have time to get bored. The time just flew by! We relaxed (as much as one can relax with 2 toddlers); we went for walks in the forest and around the river; had a barbeque; gathered around the fire for marshmallows, and just had a bit of peace a quiet before returning to our busy lives!
I strongly recommend you visit Redwood Valley, or just go glamping anywhere that fancies your eyes, especially if you’ve never been before. It’s an experience, and one we’re definitely booking again!
