5 things to do in Lake District with kids!
It was summer and hot when we visited Lake District with the children and I have to tell you I fell in love with it. I’m sure I didn’t visit half of the things there are to see, and I will hopefully go there again and see more of Lake District’s beauty, but I will tell you the places we managed to visit and the ones you should definitely check out too!
Blea Tarn

I loved this place and the spectacular view of the mountain scenery as we drove up to Blea Tarn. It was just a joy to watch how God has created this world so beautiful!

I loved this place so much, that I actually went there two days in a row. It was hot outside so we went for a swim. Well, my husband thought is was cold and didn’t like it, but me and our German Shepherd definitely loved being in the water :D!

This is part of National Trust so if you are a member, you don’t have to pay for parking. Otherwise, I thought the parking fees were quite expensive. We spent an entire day there, but we had plenty of water, food and snacks to keep us going. You can also go and have a drink or food at Sticklebarn and enjoy the breathtaking view on your way down (B5343, Great Langdale, Ambleside LA22 9JU).
Nathan enjoyed his fishing; Josh took advantage of the free vitamin D from the sun, and my husband had no choice than to pose for our self timer couple pictures!

Orrest Head

To get to Orrest Head, it’s about a 20 – 30 minutes walk up there, but we love a family walk and definitely didn’t regret this one because the view from there was amazing!

Rayrigg Meadow Car Park

The address for this place is Rayrigg Rd, Windermere LA23 1BP. It was actually our first stop when we got to Windermere, because we needed to eat something and we had pre-packed food. There were tables for picnic which was really nice and thoughtful.

We had no idea what was on the other side, but we decided we should go for a walk and see if we can find anything and thankfully, we did come across beautiful scenery.

The World of Beatrix Potter

I have to admit I had no idea of who Beatrix Potter was and never even heard of Peter Rabbit. I didn’t grow up listening to these stories or watching any of the movies, but I thought it will be fun to visit The World of Beatrix Potter with my oldest one, so we gave it a go. We loved it and since then, we have watched Peter Rabbit a few times. It’s definitely worth visiting and take loads of pictures. When I posted one of them on my social media, someone asked if it was Photoshopped which made me smile, but that’s when I was glad I took a lot of pictures, even if it was pretty dark in there.

Windermere Boat Hire

You can’t really say you visited Lake District without a boat ride! It cost us £30 for 1h and that was more than enough. My husband wanted to hire it for 2h at first, but that would’ve been too long especially with the kids. You never know when they will get tired or bored of it!

I particularly enjoyed admiring the beautiful scenery and everything that Lake District has to offer!

We have been to the Lake District a few times but have never done any of these, will add them to my list
What did you usually do there :)?
My husband mentioned to me the other day about going to the Lake District with the kids this year – it’s a great idea, so it’s nice to get some inspiration on what to do there.
It’s lovely. You should definitely go!
What great tips! I love the Lake District! It’s not too far from us!
I fell in love with it too. I really want to go again since I haven’t seen everything there is to see.
Oh wow, your photos are amazing. The Lake District is somewhere we really want to explore, but weve never been up that way as yer. Mich x
Thank you so much! You should definitely visit it. It’s worth it!
I mean seriously how lucky are we to have such stunning places in our country. Child friendly and free to visit too! Great post with lots of inspo for those planning in visiting x
I agree. This place is so different from London for example. It was lovely to spend a few days there.
Beatrix Potter will always be a place that I hold close to my heart. I have been many times and have to say that the Lake district is one of the most beautiful places on earth xxx
I love Lake District!
So shocked boat hire was this cheap we are headed to the lakes with the kids in March what a timely post

We are hoping to go to the Lake District in the next school holidays so this is a very handy guide for us!
